14 Keto Coffee Creamers To Help You Stick To The Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet

Don’t mess with my morning coffee, k?

Picture this: You’re at the start of your day, you’re feeling tired and need an extra kick of energy. As usual, you grab your favorite mug, make your way to start up a fresh cup of…and then it hits you. You just started a keto diet, and you don’t drink your coffee black. You might not even be sure if you can drink coffee at all.

If you’re an avid coffee lover and you’ve been thinking about starting up on a keto diet, this scenario may have crossed your mind. Odds are you’re not alone, but there’s good news: You can have coffee on a keto diet, and you can also add cream to your coffee.

But wait, can you have creamer in your coffee on keto?

Coffee creamer is usually high in sugar, and keto-friendly options are harder to come by. Not all forms of dairy are keto-friendly, and many non-dairy creamers also contain added sugar. So checking the label for low sugar options is the best way to go about it, says Amanda Lemein RD, MS. If low sugar options make drinking coffee unbearable for you, it’s okay to use creamer sparingly.

“I recommend using coffee creamers to taste. I think this is based on personal preference and what will satisfy you. Ultimately, if the rest of your diet is balanced, a little coffee creamer won't make a huge impact,” she says.

Whether you’re preparing to start your keto diet journey or looking to mix things up a bit, these coffee creamers will help you get the light-and-sweet flavor you love.

So Delicious Organic Creamer Coconut milk

Coconut milk creamer (just like coconut milk itself) is a great option for keto dieters because it has zero carbs, says Nora Minno, R.D., a New York-based registered dietitian and personal trainer.

Keep in mind, though, it's not terribly high in fat—so it won’t really encourage ketosis, but it won’t knock you out, either.

Per 1 Tbsp serving: 15 calories, 1 g fat (1 g saturated), 0 g carbs, 0 g sugar, 10 mg sodium, 0 g fiber, 0 g protein

Left Coast Performance Keto Coffee Creamer

Left Coast Performance's keto creamer contains three major keto staples: ghee butter, MCT oil, and coconut oil, says Minno. So, basically, it's an amped up bulletproof coffee. But the creamer comes with a to-do: You've gotta blend it. "It's loaded with healthy fats, which means if it's not blended, the oil will separate from the coffee," according to the product's website.

Begin by adding 1/4 of a tablespoon to your morning coffee, and work up to one tablespoon, per the creamer's instructions.

Per 1 Tbsp serving: 120 calories, 14 g fat (11 g saturated), 0 g carbs, 0 g sugar, 0 mg sodium, 0 g fiber, 0 g protein

Here's another keto-specific coffee creamer loaded with ghee, MCT oil, coconut oil, and alternative sweeteners. Unlike the low-fat and low-carb creamers, this creamer (along with Left Coast Performance's creamer) will up your daily fat intake and help you stay in ketosis, says Minno.

Per 1 Tbsp serving: 120 calories, 14 g fat (10 g saturated), 0 g carbs, 0 g sugar, 0 mg sodium, 0 g fiber, 0 g protein

Okay, so heavy whipping cream isn't exactly a creamer, but it's still a good option for the keto dieter's coffee since it's packed with fat, says Minno.

Whipping cream can be pretty thick (as the name suggests), so Minno suggests making it a little smoother by mixing a bit of it with water before pouring it in your brew.

Per serving: 50 calories, 6 g fat (3.5 g saturated), 0 g carbs, 0 g sugar, 5 mg sodium, 0 g fiber, 0 g protein.

Technically, half-and-half has milk in it (hence the name—it's equal parts milk and cream), and milk is pretty high in sugar. But Minno says this lactose-free version by Organic Valley can definitely be keto-friendly in moderation. At just one carb per two-tablespoon serving, it won't knock you out of ketosis and still gives you a ton of fat.

Per 2 Tbsp serving: 40 calories, 3.5 g fat (2 g saturated), 1 g carbs, 1 g sugar, 10 mg sodium, 0 g fiber, 0 g protein
