When remembering my astrological signs and all of their traits, I like to think of Taurus as a bougie sloth. If these sleepy rainforest dwellers lived in five-star treehouses with air conditioning, Egyptian cotton sheets, and mohair blankets that would be the true embodiment of Big Taurus Energy.

Valerie Mesa, an astrologer and soul coach, had a different (but also sort of similar??) animal comparison: "Imagine a beautiful spring day, and the cow is just lounging around with the flowers eating grass."

So, yeah, this sign is all about luxury, comfort, and of course, l-o-v-e.

Tauruses love love. This sign is ruled by Venus, after all—a planet all about love and relationships. A Taurus likes to be taken care of, to luxuriate in all things comfy and cozy, says Narayana Montúfar, senior astrologer at Horoscope.com and Astrology.com and author of Moon Signs: Unlock Your Inner Luminary Power. "Tauruses love being in relationships and, for the most part, it’s a sign that functions better when connecting with someone," she adds.

Plus, because Tauruses are earth signs, they're all about being disciplined and committed (a.k.a. ready for a serious 'ship). And it's no coincidence that Taurus season—which lasts from April 19 to May 20—is right in the middle of spring, after we all survive the winter. "Taurus peaks at a time where we are reminded of our physical surroundings, and the abundance of resources around us," says Mesa. This is also what makes Taurus a strong match with water signs. (The earth needs water, and vice versa!)

It's pretty rare to find a single Taurus. "Out of all the zodiac signs, Taurus is one of the most pleasure-seeking of all," Montúfar says. While it may be unusual to find a Taurus who isn’t boo-ed up, there are a few out there. So, it's worth getting familiar with Taurus compatibility JIC you encounter one in the ~wild~. Ahead, find the best matches made in the stars.

The signs Taurus is most compatible with:

  • Cancer

Since the moon rules Cancer and Taurus, these two share a connection that will allow both signs to feel nurtured, comfortable, and fully seen in all their feelings, says Montúfar.

Cancer, a water sign, will nurture Taurus by providing space and rest (while also cooking bomb meals, if you’re lucky!). In turn, Taurus will shower their Cancer love with affection. Taurus can provide this emotional sign with room to explore their deep feelings and rich inner life. Oh, and these signs align aesthetically, and if they do live together, it’ll be a VIBE. "Taurus and Cancer can build the most beautiful home together, creating heaven on earth," Montúfar says.

  • Scorpio

The cunning, deeply intuitive Scorpio and the openly loving, affectionate Taurus may not seem like a match at first, says Mesa. But, these polar opposite signs give each other what the other doesn’t have. A Scorpio’s biggest fear is loss, and with Taurus' grounding energy, they provide security for them, Mesa says. Scorpios can prompt a Taurus to look inward, in a way this earth sign doesn't always. When this pair gets together, expect some highly psychic energy to emerge, says Mesa.

  • Pisces

"Taurus and Pisces are a true match made in cosmic heaven when it comes to romance," says Montúfar. Taurus is ruled by Venus, while Pisces is ruled by Neptune, and "whenever Venus and Neptune harmonize in the sky, we can expect the sparks of love to fly," says Montúfar.

A Taurus' earthy vibes will soak up and indulge the never-ending emotional nature of Pisces, while also helping Pisces come down to earth (as needed), says Montúfar. Since both signs are creative, Pisces awakens Taurus' creativity and provides dreamy inspiration. "Together, they can be the ultimate artsy and classy couple that turns heads everywhere they go," Montúfar says.

  • Sagittarius

The fiery, bubbly Sag and relaxed, earthy Taurus may not make sense traditionally, says Mesa, but these signs are both really chill, which makes all the difference romantically. (New couple Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum are a Sag/Taurus duo, so pay attention to this theory!) "It’s the ability to be in the present moment, vibe, and be carefree that brings these two together," says Mesa. "Taurus loves to stop and smell the roses, go with the flow. Sag is like, 'Why not?' Because they love the experience." It’s kind of a perfect pair.

A Taurus' relationship with a Gemini, however, probably won't last:

Gemini and Taurus could not be more opposite, and not in the "opposites attract" sort of way, according to Montúfar.

Taurus, you're all about stopping and smelling the roses, enjoying every moment, and well, moving slowly. Gemini, ruled by Mercury, moves fast and enjoys absorbing life through their mind and intellect. "These two approach life in a different way. When it comes to dating, Taurus needs full-on commitment, which is something that Gemini might not be able to fully offer," says Montúfar. "Geminis need freedom and constant social interaction, which is something that Taurus might find quite exhausting from the get-go. Taurus natives are private and choose their friendships carefully."

Another thing that might drive Taurus crazy is that Gemini won't stop talking!! Tauruses process things internally, while Geminis externalize everything. This makes for a challenging dynamic in love and friendship.
